As previously announced, our BCLP Annual General Meeting will be held June 8, 2024.
This year it will be held in the Lower Mainland again, with a planned return to the Interior, Island, or the North in the next two successive years.
We will have two options:
1) In person -- $70, includes dinner and a drink. (25 max. Registration is first come, first serve.) *
2) Virtual - $30, link to be sent out the day before the AGM *
* Reduced to $50 and $20 for June 5th and 6th
Location: Richmond Country Club
9100 Steveston Hwy, Richmond, B.C.
Walter Block will be our guest speaker this year. He is the most-published libertarian alive, and with his long-time ties to both B.C. and the U.S.A., he is always full of great stories.
Block will speak to the question: Is it ethical for libertarians to partake in elections? And if so, who should we support? As well, he’ll give his take on current American politics, including Trump and the U.S. Libertarian Party.
2 p.m. – AGM – Agenda to be released June 1 or earlier
3 p.m. – Discussion – What is our role as the BCLP in the 2024 election?
4 p.m. – Election of new Executive
5 p.m. – Speaker: Walter Block
6 p.m. – Dinner
We will plan to take breaks after the AGM portion and after the Election of the new Executive, prior to keynote speaker.
At the AGM our outgoing Executives will report on the activities of the past year and vote on updates to bylaws or the constitution.
After some discussion on what the BCLP’s campaign strategy should look like we will hold elections for the new Executive, followed by a Leadership Convention, where we’ll elect a new Party Leader and Deputy Leader.
The following roles are up for election: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Ethics Committiee Chair, and three (3) At-Large Directors (two of which will hold the portfolios of Outreach Committee Chair and Policy Committee Chair).
Job descriptions for each can be found in section 5 of our Bylaws, or feel free to reach out to us and we'd be more than happy to explain the responsibilities.
If you are looking for a way to get involved in the battle to make our province more free, please consider stepping up for one of these roles.
