In Brief:

    • The lockdowns caused irreparable harm and human suffering and measures must be taken to avoid future similar actions by government, through legislation.
    • Increase the threshold for calling for a provincial State of Emergency.
    • End any remaining orders of the Public Health Officer related to Covid-19 and the SARS-Cov-2 virus because the virus has become endemic and has been proven to be non-dangerous to the majority of the population.
    • Replace any remaining mask or vaccine mandates in public services with a recommendations.

At Length:

While British Columbia had one of the more measured responses to the Covid-19/SARS-Cov-2 pandemic, there are still remnants of the government’s overreaction to the virus.

The ban on unvaccinated healthcare workers was not lifted until July 2024 – at least two years past the point when all data proved the shots were not effective.

The timing suggests the lifting of the mandate was more about political benefit – with the General Election just three months later – than it was about any public safety reasons.

The BCLP supports traditional vaccinations as a balanced part of a healthcare plan, while also advocating that families who do not want to add any shots to their family’s vaccination schedule should not be limited in their access to society.

The BCLP will create a commission to revisit the entire government reaction, both by politicians and bureaucrats, like the public health office, with the intention on finding where British Columbians’ rights were violated, where they were withholding information from media and residents, and in a tribunal-setting, force them to answer for the wrongs done to B.C. families.

Finally, we would revisit the Public Health Act legislation, specifically the sections giving emergency powers. British Columbians’ ability to move freely in the province, operate their businesses, and gather socially is paramount and the threshold to suspend any of those activities needs to be drastically increased, to ensure the lockdowns of 2020 never happen again.
